THE MOST IMPRESSIVE BUILDINGS IN 2021

2021 may be considered a dark year across the world for many reasons, but it was very productive in terms of architecture, luxury interior design and fit-out. Among these projects mainly put into practice with a futuristic approach were the projects one could call an iconic building. Here are some of them:

Bee'ah Head Office Building:

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in Sharjah, this project is like an oasis in the middle of a desert. A good benchmark of a hotel interior decoration. Getting inspired from the sand dunes in the middle of a desert, the building is located in an area of 7,000 square meters. The building was equipped with ecological solutions and designed with an approach in harmony with the desert conditions capable of dealing with the high temperatures. The building surface opens when the weather is relatively cold to balance the temperature inside.

Poem Pavilion:

This building looks like a structure from a science fiction movie, and is based on the motto “innovation for a shared future”. The building is named after a project of Stephen Hawking “Breakthrough Message”. This location reveals the use of artificial intelligence for the communication among the cultures.

Wormhole Library:

Carried out by the MAD Architecture Studio in China, this space attracts attention with its organic structure. Looking down at the South China Sea, this space has no wall or anything else that divides the area. The modern interior design consists of mazes that look like holes dug by a worm underground.

The Grand Egyptian Museum:

Established on a land of 48,000 square meters in Cairo, this place adds beauty to the night view of the desert with the lights. It took about 20 years from the project to the final stage of the Grand Egyptian Museum put into practice by Arup. Solar panels added to the building are an indication that it will gain its energy from sustainable manner as much as possible.

Tokyo New National Stadium:

A building a product of the mixture of traditional Japanese architecture, modern interior design techniques and natural materials. Designed by Kengo Kuma in a way that feels comfortable and acquaintance, the stadium hosted the Olympics in 1964. 47,000 trees were planted around the stadium. The design process started by Zaha Hadid Architects, but upon the disagreement on certain aspects, the project was handed over to Kuma expecting that the building would be in more harmony with the Japanese traditions.
